Description
Summary:The present study was carried out with an intension to study the effect of the presence of the polyethylene glycol in water and also in presence and absence of one aqueous insoluble drug Griseofulvin in the former solution. Parameters used the volumetric parameters like density and one parameter related to the surface is surface tension. It was observed that the parameters density showed an anomalous trend is a decrease in the density of water because of the presence of PEGs (PEG 1500, 4000 and 6000) up to a specific extent as the concentration were increased, but later at higher concentration the density was increased. In case of surface tension, the presence of PEGs reduced the surface tension. Where as in presence of Griseofulvin an increase in the decreased surface tension was observed. But when Griseofulvin was introduced alone, the surface tension of water was further increased indicating a further consolidation of the intermolecular force between water molecules. This study presented some valuable information regarding the interactions between the aqueous insoluble drug Griseofulvin and water and resultant change because of the presence of the solubility enhancer PEG 1500, 4000 and 6000 of course in a varied manner.
