Summary:The purpose of this applied research is to study about the effectiveness of inventory control system through deeper study on standard operating procedure and the problems arise due to inventory control system deficiencies. This study covers the information from a manufacturing and distributing of lubricant company and the process of managing the inventory. Objectives of this study are to examine the standard operating procedure and identify any loopholes in practice and procedure on inventory management of the company manufacturing and distributing lubricant and also to investigate to what extent these problems arise due to inventory control system deficiencies, if any, in the manufacturing and distributing lubricant company. The methodology use to gather the information is based on content analysis and observations. The scope cover the information from 2008 - 2012 and focusing on department of supply chain management in ABC Sdn Bhd. There are five findings of standard operating procedure provided by this company which are receiving of finished goods from supplier, delivery of finished goods to customer (3rd party warehouse), delivery of finished goods to customer (outbound), receiving of finished goods (inbound) and receiving finished goods (imported).Finally, this study suggests six recommendations in improving the effectiveness of inventory control system management in the company. The limitations and suggestion for future research also described at the end of the study
