Summary:The purpose of this study is to investigate the students' motivation to study music in secondary school. This study was done in quantitative specification form. This study was held in one selected school in Lembah Klang, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Rantau Panjang. The respondents for this study are the students in lower secondary. The data analyzed according to the research questions such as the students' perception about music subject in school, the motivational factors influencing students to study music subject in school and the problems faced by the students in the teaching and learning process in music subject. A total of the respondents of this study are n = 70 from students in lower secondary school were completed a survey questionnaire. The study found that the respondents like to study music subject because they like to study in comfortable classroom and study music help them to relieve their stress. In addition, the respondents want to play music instrument because they get a new knowledge in the field of music subject. This study also found that there are several factors that influence the students' motivation to study music such as classroom activities, music teacher and parents.
