Description
Summary:The purpose of this research is to assist the students in understanding the notes together with its value using iconic sign methodology which was proposedby Jerome Bruner in his cognitive theory study. The standard four students were subjects in this research. This research was conducted in four stages; which are using (i) value icon matching (ii) note icon matching (iii) note card and its value matching (iv) writing a correct note value. The data collection consisted of pre-test and post-test, observation and survey. The instruments used in this research are test sheets, note sheets, and checking sheet forms. The result of the analysis shows an improvement in the students' score in the post-test compared to the pre-test score in which all the subjects obtained foil marks. This improvement is justified by another result which was obtained by observation and the response from checking the sheet forms. In summary, the result of the study shows that the usage of iconic sign in learning will be able to improve the students' ability to choose the correct iconic note value.
