Description
Summary:Developmental Dysplasia of Hip (DDH) is a spectrum of anatomical abnormalities of the hip joint due to deviation in normal hip development during embryonic, fetal and infantile growth periods which can cause developmental disability such as abnormality of gait, shortening of leg and other complications. The study was conducted as a preliminary study to identify the effectiveness of custom made brace named OT's Hip Abduction Brace among DDH children being referred from North region hospitals. After 2 months of intervention, ultrasound and clinical examination found that there were reduction in a angle of hip joint and increase in angle which shows hip stabilization using the OT's Hip Abduction Brace. Level of satisfaction was also found high among parents from the application of the brace to their DDH children. No complications were found from wearing the brace besides parents expressed satisfaction on the physical look, easiness of wearing the brace, good durability and they believed in the intervention by using the brace provided. Statistical analysis conducted also identify that they was significant association (p=0.007) between a and b angles of hips joint amongst children with the DDH after 2 months of OT's Hip Abduction Brace.
