Description
Summary:Rubato/free style guitar is a style of playing which is important to know in order to play jazz or pop music. It has a broad definition based on crucial functions and elements to jazz music. This research is an investigation of techniques in creating rubato/free style guitar. In order to narrow down the investigation, my research has focused on the genre of traditional pop music where I have specifically chosen a pop tune: Fly Me to the Moon by Bart Howard as a detailed analysis in reference to my research. This study also explains a brief historical background of Jazz and pop music, as it is important to know the history of jazz and pop music before entering a deeper understanding of its context. The purpose of this research is to equally understand the methods and techniques used in creating Rubato/free style guitar, to which I have successfully covered, illustrated and explained important methods and techniques used in creating rubato/free style guitar. In addition, the second purpose of conducting this research is to investigate further the appropriate to play the rubato style guitar which I have supported detailed evidence in reference to the matter in chapter four (4). I have applied the qualitative methodology throughout my research undertaking. Thus, I was able to complete my investigation mostly through extensive analysis of Fly Me to the Moon by Bart Howard. He is one of the greatest icons in jazz and pop music.
