Summary:This qualitative study examined the extent of issues that tuba players have in their breathing while playing the instrument. Eight (8) participants of music students and alumni majoring in tuba involved in this study were asked about their breathing issues while playing. They also been asked the methods they used in their study with the tuba. Most of the respondents have issues with their breathing while playing. In this study, all of them agreed that air is the main key to master other technical abilities. Tuba is the biggest instrument in brass family and has a large diameter of length. To play a tuba, it will require a lot of air while playing. This research will study the breathing issues faced by tuba player in Malaysia in order to get more information about the most important aspect in tuba playing which is breathing and air.
