Description
Summary:The purpose of this study is to analyze the musical interpretation of two professional sopranos, Leontyne Price and Jessye Norman in singing Divinites Du Styx. In this study, two professional sopranos were selected based on their experiences and style of singing in classical music. The method for this study is a qualitative method where the primary source will be the secondary data, video performances by the singers in Youtube and Divinites Du Styx music score published by Dover Publications. In my findings, I analyzed both of the sopranos’ musical interpretation towards dynamic and phrasing through their video performance in Youtube and also referring to the music score. Both of the singers are an amazing, talented and well respected singers that have their highest achievement in their singing career. They have their style of interpretation that can be learn by the new learner singers. The most important things in interpreting a song is the understanding of the story or messages of the song through the lyrics or even through the opera of the song and how it is being delivered to the audiences.
