| Summary: | Designing library study environment is important to the mood, motivation and performance of individual because interior design plays an important role on human mood and social behaviours. The results of a good and satisfying environment of a certains peace will lead to the maximum human comfort and satisfaction. It including the primary factors like the vantilation, lighting, acoustic value, thermal comforts, and others. Lighting, as a control architectural tool, gives important influences on users' perception behaviour and visual comfort in libraries. A library in UiTM Seri Iskandar was chosen as the main subject to continue this study. The library is located at the centre of the UiTM campus and it is a two storey building which is have three level of the reading space. The study was conducted at the ground and the first floor of the library. the second floor of library was closed due to the renovation. It showed, there is a different environment between those two levels due to the different arrangement of bookshelves, furnitures, and the amount of the daylight that could enter in a library. The observation shows there is a different pattern of user's seating preferences and the result also found that the library users prefer the seat near daylighted area, but the time spend in the library is not really affected by daylighting. Besides for visual comfort, daylighting is not the only contributor to overall comfort and user's satisfaction. The presence of air conditioning, and comfortable couch also might be a variables to the time spend and user's satisfaction in a library. |
