Summary:This paper aims to ascertain effective practice techniques in achieving finger dexterity in flute playing and to examine how Yeojin Han and Claudio Barile showcase finger dexterity in flute playing for 'Fantaisie' Op. 79 by Gabriel Faure. When preparing to play more challenging pieces with passages that contain a lot of running notes, it is problematic when a flutist feels like they keep making mistakes on these passages and it often stems from practicing with the wrong posture and wrong method. This study is fulfilled through qualitative method by analysing the music score of the piece, analysing the video performances of Claudio Barile and Yeojin Han and discussing the practice techniques used to achieve finger dexterity. This study can contribute to helping flutists that have problem with stiff fingers or limited finger dexterity.
