Summary:Malaysia is one of the countries that is growing rapidly in the economy and construction industry and surely it gives a big impact to the country especially for the nation’s image. Nowadays, there are a lot of public toilets under the local authority that do not well care for public people. In reality, a lot of the public toilets are poorly designed and lead the public people don’t want to use it and add with the poor condition, dirty, poor maintenance and does not guarantee human comfort for the user. The consideration of the physical outlook of the facilities and followed by the hygiene and human comfort is vital. Because of that, the majority of public toilets in this country are not in use because it looks bad and it is not taken care of. Therefore, this issue addresses the problem to our country because keeping public toilet cleans and adapting an effective design of the building can be considered as part of patriotism instead if not well maintained, then defective as a part of our patriotism. Maintaining the cleanliness and providing a good condition of public toilets by applying an effective design also means upholding the country’s dignity. Related to the study, the main criteria of public toilets focusing on tourist places is at the Port Dickson and Batu Kikir. The aim of this research is to improve the current toilet conditions in Malaysia. Besides, the objectives of this research are to investigate the various issues that commonly happened in the public toilet in Malaysia, to minimise a dilapidated public toilet because of improper design and maintenance and to propose a solution to reduce the problem at the public toilet especially about the human comfort and hygiene. The methodology adopted for this research is through literature review, observation and semi structured interview for collecting the data. According to the study the factors that contributed to the public toilet not being used is due to the ineffectiveness design of the public toilet. The main contribution of this research is to analyse the effectiveness design of all unused public toilets in order to bring the quality, functioning and serve to the community.
