Summary:Dengue is one of the most predominant viral diseases in urban and semi-urban areas in Malaysia. The number of dengue cases in Malaysia has increased in the period starting from year 2015 until March 2017. As Malaysia is going through urbanization and globalization which had become a factor in contributing towards dengue outbreak. Construction projects have been identified as the major contributor to high number of dengue cases since construction projects has a high potential in breeding Aedes mosquitoes. Countless efforts have been initiated to reduce the number of dengue cases in Malaysia. However, the number of dengue cases kept on increasing throughout the year and had not stopped its rapid emergence and global spreads. Therefore, it is important for the Malaysian government to address this issue. The only available option to kerb dengue issues is by preventing and controlling the dengue outbreak in order to reduce the number of dengue cases in Malaysia.
