Summary: | This study attempted to examine the information seeking behavior among student using e-journal. The study was focused on the part 5 and part 6 students from Faculty of Business and Management and Faculty of Science. In this study, the researchers were used convenience sampling technique. Convenience sampling means a nonprobability sampling procedure whereas the selected samples represent a captive audience. Nonprobability sampling IS the probability of selecting a single individual is not known, Salkind (2003). For the purpose of data collection, a questionnaire was used as the main instrument. The questionnaires consist of three sections including the demographic and two more sections were constructed according to Research Objective and Research Questions. 80 questionnaires were distributed to the students at Faculty of Business and Management and Faculty of Science. Several follow up and call were made to ensure that the researchers get back all the questionnaires. Within three days, all the questionnaires were collected. The data analysis was done by using PSAW 20.0. Based on the finding, the respondents from Facility of Science were more frequently in using e-journal compared to the respondents from Faculty of Business and Management. Nevertheless, the respondents from Faculty of Business and Management were more able to use e-journal than the respondents from Faculty of Science. During conducting the research and completing the assignment, the e-journal is the main reference for all the respondents. From the data gathered, there were several recommendations to enhance and improve the used of e-journal. The lecturer, management, researcher and user are responsible in increasing the used and ability among student in using e-journal. The lecturer needs to encourage the student in using e-journal by giving the assignment that required the students to use e-journal as the main reference. On the other hands, the management especially UiTM Pahang Library is required to increase the resources in finding the information. Therefore, the respondents have variety of information resources in completing the assignments. The management also needs to increase the internet speed. So, it is easy for the respondents to find the information through the internet. Other than lecturer and management, the researcher also should contribute in enhancing and improving the used of e-journal. The researcher should enlarge the scope of respondents in using e-journal. The researcher needs to conduct the research on using e-journal among student from other faculty such as from Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Law, and Faculty of Medical. The last but not least, the user itself needs to improve the motivation in using e-journal. The user should realize that e-journal is providing a lot of information from many sites. |
