Description
Summary:This study attempted to investigate the relationship between government expenditure with economic growth of Malaysia. This study covers the sample period from 1970 until 2014. The objective of this study is to investigate the behaviour of each component of government expenditure towards economic growth of Malaysia. There are several econometric procedures used in order to achieve the objectives of this study, which are Augmented Dickey Fuller (ADF) and Phillip - Perron (PP) unit-root test, Johansen and Juselius Cointegration test and also Granger causality test. Based on the econometric that has been employed, all of the selected government expenditure components namely education expenditure, transportation expenditure and security expenditure are having positive relationship with economic growth. Besides that, there is also long run relationship between the variables and there is causality relationship found in the model.
