Summary:The school objective of learning is over-all excellence in academic achievement. As a hands-on subject. Integrated living Skills focuses on practical and theoretical aspect. To mould balanced individuals in consistence with the National Education Philosophy, the practical aspect need to be given extra weight age. This research is aimed to look at the relationship between the practical and practice of Technology and Design (within the subject of Integrated living Skills) with the academic achievement among the Form 2 students of secondary schools all round the town of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. In accordance to Kerjcie and Morgan Schedule, 300 students were thus randomly chosen from a population of 1170. Data was collected on 73 item, based on likert scale 5 using questionnaires that had been revised from a research done by Mohd. Sahandri Gani Hj. Hamzah (1995) and a questionnaire from "Sistem Pentaksiran Murid Musleh" (SPMM) (2005) which concentrated on the background information of the respondents. Section B was on the skills aspect (23 items), while the practical aspect of Section C which had to be mastered by students (15 items) in reference to “Dokumen Pentaksiran Kerja Kursus Amali RBT Tingkatan 2", with the improvised version of PMR 2005 grading standard, set by Malaysian Examination Council. Section D consisted of revised questions taken from a questionnaire in a research carried out by Mohd. Sahandri Gani Hj. Hamzah (1995) and Dokumen Pentaksiran Kerja Kursus Amali RBT Tingkatan 2 (2005) about the Importance of a practical work In KHB. Section E was on students' academic achievement. The collected data was analyzed using the Descriptive and Inference Statistics, on SPSS Windows 10.0 Software. Pearson-Correlation Test and “ANOVA Sehala� were used to test the hypothesis of the research. Surety level of 0.05 was used for this purpose. The outcome of researches H₀¹ and H₀² revealed that there was no Significant relationship between practice and practical in the academic achievement H₀³ rejected the significant differences between the chosen electives and academic excellence. However, H₀� showed a significant relationship between the practical aspect and respondents' practice. This thus showed there was an obvious relationship between practice and practical. The outcome of the research revealed that respondents' academic excellence in this particular subject was not influenced by both aspect mentioned above. Thereby, for the purpose of future research, the researcher suggests that the overall population needs to be utilized to get a more consistent result in making comparisons between respondents living in urban or rural areas, the use of various data collection techniques and a collaboration with private sectors to further enhance the knowledge and skills among students.
