الملخص: | Conservation of orangutans in their remaining habits in Sarawak requires the knowledge of the resources that sustain existing population. One of the most important of these resources is food. The main focus of this study therefore was to determine the distribution and nutritive quality of fruits consumed by orangutans in areas where they are found in Sarawak. An important prerequisite was to determine if the fruits were eaten by orangutan or by other animals in the forest. Thus, the first part of this thesis focused on developing a technique, based on teeth marks, which could be used to identify the consumer of the fruit. |
