總結:A morphology, growth physiology and toxicity study was carried out on five clonal culture of Alexandrium species i.e. A minutum, A. tamarense, A. leei, A. affine and A. tamiyavanichii. These species were originally established from various coastal and estuarine waters in Peninsula Malaysia. The clam, Polymesoda similis that was fed with toxic A. minutum, had four types of gonyautoxins in its gut tissues when analysed by HPLC. Results showed that toxin accumulated very slowly in clam but tissue and it took a long period of time to depurate the toxins.
