Description
Summary:A project is a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product. One of the factors for successful delivery of engineering project is the adoption of the appropriate procurement route and it comprises of the selection for procurement strategy, tendering method, contract type and standard form of contract. However with the various options available in Malaysia, there is no existing proper selection guideline. The selection is hinged on the familiarity factor of experienced contract personnel on a particular route. The aim of the research is to develop a structured selection guideline for the procurement of projects in Malaysia inclusive of all the selection. Selection criteria were identified from extensive literature review and the relevancy of these criteria were verified with local construction industry players through semi-structured interviews. The correlation of the verified criteria with the selection procedure were established; questions representing each criteria were designed and answered to match the criteria with the most appropriate procurement method, contract type and standard form.
