Description
Summary:Ganoderma genus is fungi that belonged to family of Ganodennataceae of Agaricomycetes and well known as one ofthe major pathogen to plants including oil palm. However, only few studies have been done on the systematic classification of this genus in Malaysia. In the present study, eight species of Ganoderma were identified based on their morphological characteristics and complemented through their DNA sequences. Five species were grouped under G. lucidum complex namely; G.lomicatum, G. cupreum, G. weberianum, G. mastosporum and Ganoderma sp. 6, while three species were belongs to G. applanatum complex namely; G. australe complex, G. gibbosum and Ganoderma sp. 1. Twenty seven specimens could only be identified to the genus level. Numerical taxonomy study using the Gower Coefficient Similarities presented by UPGMA showed that the 35 of Ganoderma specimens were segregated based on their appearances, laccate and non - laccate. Based on the macro - and micro - morphological characteristics, the artificial key for species identification was developed which can referred for the Ganoderma identification.
