Computer science Internet connectivity is becoming increasingly important in nowadays community in rural and urban area. It helps to connect people, allowing communication between two or more places, transferring documents, monitor health and much more. Maintaining a stable Internet connection has always been a challenge in both urban and rural area as it requires technical support. Urban area are easily accessible by administrator and administrator in event of network failure. However, it is difficult due to long journey, challenging terrain, certain area that only accessible by air or water, heavy equipment, no information on which hardware or software failure and lack of IT support staff at the rural site. Numerous researches and studies has been conducted involving embedded system to maintain a stable Internet connection within both of the area and to bridge the gap for automatic network recovery. This study aims to continuously monitor rural network (hardware and software), provide administrator constant report regarding network devices status and automatic self-recovery or self-healing network that able to solve failure without human interaction. Secondly, the studies aim to shorten the required time to travel from weekly to only necessary by propose a check-in scheme that always report to ensure the network is continuously running. Finally, while waiting for administrator to fix the failure, the rural network able to continuously function by swapping with backup hardware that already been installed on the rural site. Using this method, we can reduce network downtime duration and constantly monitor network performance. Keywords: Rural, self-recovery, embedded system, remote connection, network monitoring, failure reporting.
