Summary:This study has been conducted in order to find the influence of western music and the effect towards youth life. Atotal of set 220 sets of questionnaires were distributed randomly around Kuching and Kota Samarahan. A descreptive form of study was done where a questionnaire consists of 13 item was use as the study instrument. The collected data was analysed using the SPSS version 20.0 and also microsoft excel. The results were then analysed to percentage, frequency, crosstabs analysis and mean. The result from the study showed that the was easily accepting the western music as an entertainment through electronic media technology. Apart from that, they agreed that they like to listen music from the west country more compared to the local music all a the time and anywhere. They also use music from the west country as a companian when may want to studies. Through the survey result, the finding showed that the western music is among the factors which caused the local music becoming less adored from the local community. Afew recommendation were raised as to improve the study for future use, such as, to improve monitoring by ministry of information media material broadcasted, enforce music industry development strategy in education for next generation and tighten further central monitoring industry of national music to prevent piracy.
