Summary: | Research survey was conducted on Person Under Observation (PUO), psychosocial approach and relapse cases in the District of Kinta. The District of Kinta was chosen for purpose of this research. The reason is because this location has many PUO cases compared to other districts in the State of Perak. The purpose of this research is to check the differences between the backgrounds of PUO, psychosocial approach and relapsed cases in the District of Kinta. Erik Erikkson (1980), Psychosocial Theory and Cognitive Behavioral Model (CBM), American Psychology is used as a theoretical framework in this research. Sample was chosen among population of PUO in the District of Kinta. The number of sample is 39 subjects, representing multi ethnic groups. Sample size was chosen using random sampling approach. The instrument used in this research is questionnaire. Some library research was also done for this research. The demography of the subject such as ethnic, religion, education status, duration of misused drugs, total of frequency entered to the NARC/prison/private drug rehabilitation centre was tested using One Way ANOVA. Ethnic and religion group was analyzed using frequency and percentage. Research result showed Malay Ethnic groups who are Islam/Muslims stated the highest group compared with other ethnic groups. For the One Way ANOVA testing, result showed hypotheses' H1, H2, H3 and H4 created are not significant and was rejected. Variables of psychosocial approach; counseling and guidance, religion and spiritual, sports and recreation, skills and vocational and social integration was analyzed using One Way ANOVA. Research result showed hypothesis H5 created not significant and was rejected. Relapse among PUO were also analyzed. For this purpose Hypothesis H6 was created and tested using One Way ANOVA. Result showed hypothesis H6 not significant and was rejected. The final part of this research is divided into two parts. The first part needed respondent's suggestions on how to help the recovering process among PUO. An open ended questions was asked to get accurate and detailed answer. The result showed majority of the PUO (10 cases) or 25.6% suggested the importance of the family support/social integration/love. For the second part, the results showed majority of the PUO gave priority to (8 cases) or 20.5% suggested job opportunity/assurance of income/vocational and skills than other aspects. |
