The scenario involves a workforce that predominantly operates remotely, accessing sensitive organizational resources over the internet. Traditional perimeter-based security measures are inadequate for safeguarding against evolving threats and potential vulnerabilities in remote work environments. Technologies like Secure Access Service Edge(SASE) and Zero Trust Network Access(ZTNA) 2.0 have arisen to manage secure access to networks and systems. However, a distinct usage pattern has been observed. To address this, there is a requirement for an effective security solution that combines the strengths of Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) 2.0. This integration aims to establish a robust security posture specifically tailored for remote workers. This research aims is to provide organizations with a comprehensive approach to enhance security by integrating SASE and ZTNA. This study conducted qualitative interviews with relevant vendors and performed a comprehensive analysis of the current state of security challenges in remote work. Qualitative methods were employed to evaluate the implementation approaches used by vendors to integrate SASE and ZTNA, as well as to identify the challenges faced during integration. This study bridges the gap by recommending the utilisation of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and User and Entity Behaviour Analytics (UEBA) in the integration of SASE and ZTNA 2.0. By implementing this security improvement, organisations can strengthen their security measures for remote work and reduce potential risks. In the end, this approach ensures that valuable assets and resources are protected from unauthorised access and cyber threats.
