The sharia plays an important role in curbing all evils, including the scourge of homosexuality. The teachings in the Noble Qur’an and the Prophetic Sunnah have great influence in shaping respectable behaviour. The problem of the study lies in the recent spread of homosexuality in many countries. Therefore, the main objective of the study is to identify measures on how to prevent homosexuality in the light of the Noble Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet. To accomplish the objective stated, the researcher applied inductive approach to extrapolate the Qur’anic verses and the Prophetic hadiths that discussed about homosexuality and any related issues. The study concluded several results, the most prominent of which were: the Noble Qur’an and the Prophet’s Sunnah have developed preventive methods to limit the phenomenon of homosexuality in society, which will then result a healthy society far from this immoral behaviour and free from its destructive effects. These divine methods came in a variety of ways, such as faith and moral education, cautions against the incorrect ideologies, bad company and imitation of infidels. Other than prevention methods, the Qur’an and the Prophet’s Sunnah also set important methods for treating homosexuality after its occurrence such as to glorify Allah, to always be aware of His monitoring and to always accompany the righteous people. The study recommends special emphasis on the issues among school and university students cautioning them from the negative effects of homosexuality on their religious, health and social lives through serial awareness lectures. The study also calls for more effective role by imams in revealing the deviation of atheists who infer the legal Quranic texts for permissibility of homosexuality . |
