Among books that have explained about ʿillah al-Naḥwiyyah is al-Mufaṣṣal by al-Zamakhsyari. Therefore, this research aims to study ʿillah al-Naḥwiyyah in Uṣul al-Naḥwiyyah knowledge from two scholars, who are Ibn Yaʿish and Al-Khawarizmi, and also to look for any different opinions from both scholars in elaborating al-mufaṣṣal under the topic of al-iʿrāb in al-asmā’. From the researcher’s perspective, this study is important as a primary introduction to learning ʿilm al-Uṣul al-Naḥwiyyah by naḥu scholars, specifically those related to ʿillah al-Naḥwiyyah.
