Among books that have explained about ʿillah al-Naḥwiyyah is al-Mufaṣṣal by al-Zamakhsyari. Therefore, this research aims to study ʿillah al-Naḥwiyyah in Uṣul al-Naḥwiyyah knowledge from two scholars, who are Ibn Yaʿish and Al-Khawarizmi, and also to look for any different opinions from both scholars in elaborating al-mufaṣṣal under the topic of al-iʿrāb in al-asmā’. From the researcher’s perspective, this study is important as a primary introduction to learning ʿilm al-Uṣul al-Naḥwiyyah by naḥu scholars, specifically those related to ʿillah al-Naḥwiyyah. This study uses two kinds of research methodology; which are library research and analytical method. Both methods will summarise the opinions of ʿillah al-Nahwiyyah by Ibn Yaʿish and al-Khawarizmi in the book of Syarḥ al-Mufaṣṣal, in the topic of al-iʿrāb in al-asmā’ based on naḥu methods specified to it, and also from who the opinion was taken, or followed by them, or contrast with other naḥu scholars.This study uses various sources of references, and the main references are Sharḥ al-Mufaṣṣal by Ibn Yaʿish, and Sharḥ al-Mufaṣṣal Ṣinʿat al-Iʿrāb by al-Khawarizmi, besides, other books related to ʿIllah al-Naḥwiyyah. The results the findings suggests that there are difference of opinions between these scholars on ʿIllah al-Naḥwiyyah in Syarḥ al-Mufaṣṣal in the topic of iʿrāb in al-asmā’, as well as similarities of opinions with other scholars.
