Summary: | Effective communication and job satisfaction are still a source of interest to many business organizations. This study focused on effective administrative communication and its relationship with job satisfaction in The Libyan Post Telecommunications, Information Technology Company (LPTIC). It aimed at identifying the direct relationship between effective communication elements (transparency, skills and means) and job satisfaction elements (i.e., satisfaction of job, satisfaction of salary, satisfaction of employer, satisfaction of promotion and co-worker satisfaction) and the relationship between participation in decision-making and job satisfaction elements. It further sought to find the mediator effect of participation in decision-making in the relationship between effective administrative communication and job satisfaction elements, besides personal and occupational characteristics (i.e., gender, age, experience, educational level and profession) in effective communication, job satisfaction elements and participation. It adopted the descriptive analytical approach and used a questionnaire to collect data from a sample size of 343 employees of the overall population of 8987 employees. Data were analyzed using Simple and Multiple Linear Regression and Multivariate Analysis of Variables. Findings pointed out a relationship between communication skills, profession and co-worker satisfaction, transparent communication and profession, co-worker satisfaction and communication means, salary and promotion satisfaction. They revealed a correlation between participation and profession, employer and co-worker satisfaction, a relationship between transparent communication, communication skills and participation however, there was no relationship between communication means and participation. It also showed that participation functioned as a mediator in the relationship between effective communication and profession and employer satisfaction and that there were differences between communication and job satisfaction due to personal and functional variables. |
