This empirical study attempts to investigate the role of evaluation in improving job performance of the executives in the Ministry of Education in the Sultanate of Oman. The study also examined the vital role of job satisfaction in meditating between the evaluation system and the job performance among the selected participants. A sample of 555 respondents who were voluntarily participated was randomly selected and several reliable measurement scales were adopted from previous studies to measure the variables based on conceptual framework of the study. Moreover, several statistical methods such as Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analyses (EFA & CFA), Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and Multivariate of Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) were used to answer the research questions stipulated in chapter one using SPSS and AMOS. Internal consistency of the employed scales was tested via Cronbach’s alpha and its values were ranged between 0.939 and 0.944 which indicated that the scales were reliable and can be used for any academic research. Furthermore, the results of EFA also suggested that the scales were valid and their items had high factor loading, while the CFA’s findings confirmed EFA results. Interestingly, the result of Structural Equation Modeling showed a statistical direct and positive relationship between the evaluation and job improvement. However, when job satisfaction was introduced to the equation, the relationship between evaluation and job improvement became statistical insignificant. This indicates that job satisfaction does not play a vital role in mediation between the evaluation and performance improvement. Additionally, the result of MANOVA analysis found differences between respondents’ performance evaluation based on their age and qualifications. However, the MANOVA analysis showed statistical insignificant between work performance and demographic variables. In light of these results, the researcher recommends the necessity to review the methods and procedures adopted in the employees’ evaluation process in the Ministry of Education. The clear frameworks and standards are strongly recommended for transparency and enhancement of employees’ job satisfaction which would positively affect their work performance. |
