The author has employed descriptive and inductive methodology in introducing al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar and his writing Taqrib at-Tahzib, also his arguments on the use and meaning of maqbul in hadis, the different approaches introduced by al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar, researchers' perspectives regarding the prerequisites of maqbul with reference to al- Hafiz Ibn Hajar and his consistency in advocating the prerequisites. Further, the author has also used a critical study in status of hadis narrators who are referred to as maqbul from the tenth, eleventh and twelfth tabaqat, also their hadis in Kutub Sittah (the six main book in hadis) and other mulhaqat kutub sittah (other books written by six imam in hadis) that have been printed. Results of this study shows that there are too few maqbul narrators and most of them do not narrate hadis. Some of them are narrators that bear the status called thiqoh (credible), while several others are daif (weak) and some with unknown status (majhul). The findings also show that their hadis are suported by mutaba'at. Most of their hadis can be made hujah in syarak. It can also be concluded that the prerequisites for maqbul advocated by al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar are significantly consistent with the applications on narrators of the last three tabaqat. This proves his consistency with the maqbul prerequisites as well as his credibility in the knowledge of Rijal.
