The majority of early Muslim scholars have associated most cases of waswas to the devil whisper and this situation has a strong relation to the religion itself. The discussion on waswas from the psychology standpoint only revolves associated with one of the religious themes on obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). However, the debate of waswas to this day is still debated among Muslim scholars and psychologists. Therefore, this research was conducted to identify waswas concept from al-Quran and Hadith perspectives as well as an OCD concept through psychiatry other than uncovering the association between waswas and OCD. In addition, this research analyzed waswas therapies according to al-Quran and Hadith discourses as well as therapy for OCD being practiced by the psychiatrist in Malaysia. Thus, this research proposed a holistic therapy approach for waswas through a combination of al-Quran, Hadith and psychiatry perspectives in Malaysia. This study opted a qualitative research by analyzing the words and contextual aspects of the waswas in both al-Quran and Hadith. The methods used were semi-structured interviews with psychiatrists and clinical psychologist and participant observation to provide first-hand testimonies to supplement the findings. Data analyse from al-Quran, Hadith and psychiatry was carried and major themes including the concept of waswas and OCD, characteristics and the similarity between the two. There are 10 verses in al-Quran in several Surah and twelve Hadith from seven main Hadith books have been identified as the waswas therapies, divided into four sections; (1) ruqyah shar„iyyah therapy; (2) anxiety disorder therapy; (3) the practices of tranquility triggers approach; (3) psychological advise and support therapy. All experts agreed that cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and pharmacology approaches used for OCD treatment in Malaysia should be complemented with the holistic therapy approach based on al-Quran and Hadith focus on biological, psychological, social and spiritual domains. These domains were implemented to propose a holistic therapy approach of waswas through the al-Quran, Hadith and psychiatry as to meet the requirement of Islamic religious integrated therapy. This study proposes the holistic therapy of waswas as Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM), implement by Islamic Medical Practice and as a programme syllabus of psychiatrists in public and private universities in Malaysia. As a matter of fact, it was one of the efforts to help the Government of Malaysia to reduce the cost of medication and to lead productive and healthy societies.
