Summary: | The research discusses the concepts of intellectual security, by examining selected
terms related to intellectual security such as ideological invasion and terrorism, and
deliberates on the causes and factors that contribute to maintaining intellectual security.
The first chapter delves on previous studies that discuss issues of intellectual security
from various dimensions, including from Islamic jurisprudence and modern legislation.
Next, it also incorporates opinions and legislative texts related to the mechanisms
adopted to combat intellectual security crimes. The experience of the United Arab
Emirates and its national strategy for combatting intellectual security crimes is
presented as a model. Then in Chapter Four, the focus is on a field study in which a
sample consisting of 191 respondents who are employees of three different
governmental institutions in the United Arab Emirates (Police College, Ministry of
Justice, and Ministry of Interior) are analysed, followed by the last chapter in which the
researcher discusses the results and recommendations to encounter and combat
intellectual security crimes, and set controls to combat extremism and related crimes
and the proper treatment for the intellectuals affected by the ideological invasion. The
research concludes that it is necessary to develop a general framework and key features
through which to define the future vision of the procedures, methods and means of
stabilizing national intellectual security in the face of contemporary challenges. At the
end of the study, the researcher proposes certain strategical measures that may be used
by the policy makers and state leaders to face the crimes of intellectual security, most
notably the need to reconsider the intellectual, cultural and religious rehabilitation
programs in general, whether they are for universities and institutes, or for individuals
and leaders, to enhance ways to confront intellectual extremism through thinking
methods and persuasion. |
