Summary: | The current study aims to prepare a proposed teaching program and measure its impact
on activating the values and principles of global citizenship in the fine arts curricula of
10th grade students in the North Al Batinah Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. The
study population consisted of all the students of the second cycle of basic education,
numbered (59603) male and female in North Al Batinah Governorate, including
(30275) male and (29328) female students. The sample was chosen by stratified random
method, which consisted of (122) male and female students of 10th grade for the
academic year 2019/2020, distributed over (4) schools in the North Al Batinah
Governorate. To achieve the objectives, the researcher used the descriptive-analytical
approach to define a list of concepts and values of global citizenship, and the Quasi-
Experimental Design. The study sample consisted of two groups, first group was the
experimental group that consisted of (61) male and female students who undergo the
proposed teaching program in which student book and teacher guideline were used. The
second group was the control group which was also consisted of (61) male and female
students. The researcher also prepared a cognitive test to measure the program's
cognitive outputs, and an applied test to measure the students' ability of visual
expression of global citizenship values and principles. The results show that there were
statistically significant differences between the average scores of students in the pre and
post application of the experimental research group in the cognitive and applied tests
based on the values and principles of global citizenship in favor of the post application
degrees in both tests, and it was found that it was significant for the post-cognitive and
applied tests. In light of these results, the study proposed a list of the values and
principles of global citizenship that should be included in the fine arts curricula. The
study ended with a set of recommendations, including: targeting the curricula designers
of the fine arts at the Ministry of Education to build curricula that contribute to
developing student's awareness about the values of global citizenship. |
