| Summary: | Al-Quran has made it compulsory for Muslim to pay zakat. From the socio-economic
perspectives, the payment of zakat is a social obligation of a Muslim towards his
less-fortunate brethrens. Six out of eight people entitled to receive the zakat payment
can be categorised as the less fortunate i.e. the poor, the destitute, muallaf, riqab,
gharimin and ibni sabil. In fulfilling the responsibility as zakat collector in Kedah,
the Kedah Zakat Department (KZD) has introduced a program in the form of
financial assistance known as the Bantuan Jayadiri with the objectives of providing
capital to the poor and destitute to engage in a business endeavour.
Al-Quran telah menetapkan zakat sebagai salah satu kefardhuan ke atas setiap orang
Islam. Dari sudut sosio-ekonomi, pembayaran zakat merupakan satu tanggunggjawab
sosial seorang mukmin dalam membantu golongan kurang bernasib baik. Enam
daripada lapan asnaf zakat boleh dikategorikan sebagai golongan kurang bernasib
baik iaitu fakir, miskin, muallaf, riqab, gharimin dan ibnu sabil. Dalam
melaksanakan amanah sebagai pemungut zakat di negeri Kedah, Jabatan Zakat
Negeri Kedah (JZNK) telah memperkenalkan bentuk bantuan perniagaan yang
dinamakan Bantuan Jayadiri bertujuan membekalkan modal kepada golongan fakir
miskin untuk terlibat dalam kegiatan perniagaan. |
