Tambahan pula, terdapat kekurangan penyelidikan CSR dalam konteks Perusahaan Kecil dan Sederhana (PKS), yang membentuk sebahagian besar daripada syarikat-syarikat yang ditubuhkan di seluruh dunia dan memainkan peranan yang penting dalam ekonomi, masyarakat dan alam sekitar. Oleh itu kajian ini dijalankan untuk menghuraikan mengenai isu ini daripada perspektif PKS. Realising the benefits that could be brought from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practice among businesses to the nation, the Malaysian government implemented many policies, regulations and invested a significant amount of money to encourage companies to practice CSR. However, past literature showed that the level of CSR practice amongst Malaysian companies was still not at a satisfactory level, mainly in the manufacturing sector. Furthermore, there was a lack of CSR research in the context of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), which make up a significant portion of companies’ establishments around the world and plays an important role on economy, society and environment.
