Nickel Ion Extraction Using Liquid-Liquid Extraction And Supported Liquid Membrane

Liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) and supported liquid membrane (SLM) can be considered as a suitable alternative for conventional heavy metals removal techniques. Both techniques have interesting advantages such as simultaneous extraction and stripping of heavy metals in a single unit, uphill transport, high selectivity, high recovery, and low energy consumption. This research aims to examine the efficiency of liquid-liquid extraction and supported liquid membrane technique on nickel ion removal. Three different organic phases, including palm oil-based, ionic carrier-based and petroleum-based organic phases were investigated to find out the optimum condition of various effective parameters on nickel ion extraction and stripping. Face centered composite design and response surface methodology were used for optimization and determination of the interactive and simultaneous impact of parameters affecting the nickel extraction. The results of LLE for optimum extraction and stripping processes were applied in nickel ion removal by SLM. 2016-09 Thesis http://eprints.usm.my/32104/ http://eprints.usm.my/32104/1/AMIR_TALEBI_24%28NN%29.pdf application/pdf en public phd doctoral Universiti Sains Malaysia Pusat Pengajian Teknologi Industri (School of Industrial Technology) |
