Description
Summary:Introduction: In Malaysia, infertility affects one out of seven couples. And over the decades, infertility rates in the country have been increasing between 1 0 and 15 per cent. Despite this figure, awareness of this and the treatments available are still lacking. Many are not aware that infertility is a disease of the reproductive system which in the majority of cases can be treated. Tubal factor accounts for 15 - 30% of infertility in all women in developing countries with high rates of pelvic inflammatory disease. Hysterosalpingogram is an important diagnostic test in the evaluation of intrauterine abnormalities and tubal patency in the infertility workup of female patients. Many studies had been done to assess the accuracy of hysterosalpingogram as compared to laparoscopy as the gold standard. The recent study showed good concordance rate of the findings investigated by both modalities. Objectives: To identify the characteristics, accuracy and outcome of hysterosalpingography in HUSM.
