總結:Work ethics is one of the important components in determining the success of an organization. Work ethics has the potential to encourage both employers and employees to do the right thing or vice versa. The objective of this study was to examine the relationship between Islamic work ethics and organizational commitment and its effect on Muslim engineers profession. Previous studies on the relationship between Islamic work ethics and organizational commitment and its effect on different professions indicate that there is an inconsistent value in term of relationship as well as scarcity of research in the context of Muslim engineers. These two gaps are the main focus of this study. Islamic work ethics is an independent variable that consists of 8 components namely trust, effort, honesty, teamwork, dedication, takwa, sincerity and justice. On the other hand, organizational commitment is a dependent variable comprising three dimensions of organizational commitment that include affective commitment, continuance commitment, and normative commitment. This study employed the survey method to collect research data. A total of 400 sets of questionnaires were distributed through simple random sampling to Muslim engineers working in the state of Melaka. However, a total of only 248 sets of questionnaires were collected and analyzed by the researcher. IBM SPSS Statistics version 22 was used to analyze and to provide descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings demonstrate that affective commitment has a positive and significant relationship with Islamic work ethics. Meanwhile, normative commitment demonstrates a weak positive but still a significant relationship with Islamic work ethics. However, continuance commitment presents a negative and non-significant correlation with Islamic work ethics. Overall, the findings of this study is contributive in terms of knowledge, information, and reference to authorities such as the Board of Engineers Malaysia in drafting specific guidelines for strengthening and solidifying the ethics of Muslim engineers in Malaysia. Additionally, this study also provides suggestions to the Board of Engineers Malaysia, Muslim engineers, organizations, and future studies.
