The performance was compared between the open loop and the PI controlled counterpart with the same parameters by MATLAB/Simulink simulation. Comparing these findings, it was found that manual method tuning of the PI controller converters performs surprisingly better (settling time and overshoot reduced) than the open loop equivalents.
