Summary:Lately, there has been an encouraging response among parents to send their children to dual-system tahfiz schools. This is due to the awareness of the importance of Islamic-based education that should be nurtured in children for the purpose of human development in line with excellent academic achievements. However, certain teaching and learning methods in these schools may not be effective and have an impact on the students" (huffaz) enthusiasm and academic performance. Therefore, the identification of huffaz"s intelligence is worthwhile to be investigated in enhancing their academic achievement and Quran memorization performances. This study aims to identify the dominant intelligence among the huffaz based on multiple intelligence theory as well as logistic regression analysis to describe the relationship between academic achievement and the performance of the huffaz"s memorization of the Qur'an. Data involving 163 tahfiz students from four tahfiz schools were used. Multinomial logistic regression model is used to determine factors that influence huffaz"s academic achievement, whereas binomial logistic model is used to determine factors that influence Quran memorization performance. Results from the analysis show that the huffaz"s Quranic memorization performance does influence their academic performances. In addition, it was found that huffaz whose dominant intelligences are visual and spiritual are more likely to memorize the Quran better. This study also found that natural intelligence and intrapersonal intelligence are the most dominant features among huffaz, while stimulation of natural and intrapersonal intelligence during teaching and learning processes can enhance their chances of excellent academic results.
