Description
Summary:The spread of Covid-19 has led to a shift in the teaching and learning process, where, online learning approaches have taken over conventional learning with the aim of curbing the spread of this virus. These changes in the education system affect various parties, especially teachers who had to implement online learning during the Movement Control Order (MCO). This study was conducted with two main purposes. First, it is conducted to identify the challenges faced by primary school teachers in conducting online learning. The second objective is to identify strategies to implement online learning in primary schools. This qualitative case study uses conventional content analysis method to analyze the data collected. This study presents the findings which were collected through interviews and document analysis conducted on 4 primary school teachers from Johor. The findings of the study conclude that teachers face several challenges in implementing online learning. Among them are constraints on technological facilities, teacher readiness, attitudes and motivation of students, communication and skills barriers as well as parental attitudes. Teachers have applied strategies such as using online learning applications, striving to improve self-competence and implementing flexible teaching methods as an effort to deliver online learning in an effective way. This study suggests that the research on online learning challenges and strategies should be conducted continuously so that teachers can always improve their skills and adopt themselves to educational transformation.
