Summary:The main purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of cooperative learning method on students’ achievement and motivation in the subject of Mathematics. This quantitative study used an experimental design involving 35 Year Two students in the experimental group and 35 students in the control group. Data was collected by using pre- and post-test as well as questionnaires. Data was analyzed using Paired Sample t-Test and Independent Sample t-Test. Both of the tests have shown that there is a significant difference in the mean score of achievement of the experimental group which is higher if compared to the mean score of achievement of the control group. The results of descriptive statistical analysis also showed that the level of students' learning motivation was higher after using cooperative learning method. In addition, their learning attitudes are very active and actively involved in teaching and learning activities based on this method. As a result, it can be said that cooperative learning method can motivate students to learn and improve their achievements in the subject of Mathematics. Several implications and recommendations are also discussed in this study.
