Besides that, levels of job satisfaction and the relationship between aspects of job stress and job satisfaction among lecturers of UTM, Skudai, Johor were identified. This research was also performed to distinguish the differences between job stress and job satisfaction among UTM lecturers from social sciences, pure sciences and engineering stream. A total of 179 respondents involved in this research were tutors, lecturers, senior lecturers, associate professors and professors from six faculties which are Faculty of Education (FP), Faculty of Human Resource (FPPSM), Faculty of Science (FS), Faculty of Bioscience and Bioengineering (FBB), Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FKE) and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FKM). Data were collected using questionnaire method as the research instrument, and distributed to respondents. Data analysis was performed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software version 15.0 and explained in terms of frequency, percentage and mean for items related to levels of job stress and job satisfaction. Spearman Correlation Test was used to test the relationship between levels of job stress with levels of job satisfaction. Whereas to obtain differences of job stress and job satisfaction between three specialization streams, which are social sciences, pure sciences and engineering, ANOVA test was used. The research findings show that levels of job stress faced by UTM lecturers are moderate in aspects of work load and performance pressure, whereas aspects of role conflict, home-work interface and relationship with others were at low stress levels. However, levels of job satisfaction were high. Results also showed no significant difference between levels of job stress and job satisfaction with the three specialization streams studied. Among recommendations to reduce the level of stress are encouraging effective two way communication, explaining clearly regarding new university policy guidelines and organizing motivation programs frequently.
