Lean Six Sigma methodology has shown effective solving problems of manufacturing and service industries especially in health cares, the DMAIC model linked with lean techniques and simulation has been conducted in UTM Health Care centre as case study. To identify the root causes of long waiting time in the healthcare it has been visualised the flow of patients in the health care, by using Value Stream Mapping, the current state of the health care has been shown by using the data collected from the health care centre, the current state of the health care has been simulated as well by using Arena simulation, and it is shows closely to statistical data collected from the HC. The future state map of the health care has been developed, by removing one of non-value added activity, and causes waste of motion for the patients, which is scanning the Queue card, and it has been suggested that the staff in the reception desk, scan for the patients the Queue card; future value stream mapping has been developed by considering the implantation of Lean Six Sigma in the health care system, and there is 19.6 min, (23%) percentage reduction of waiting time from total waiting of 83.7 min. 10.5 min (17%) reduction of service time, from 62.2 min total wait time, while there is 30.12 min (21%) difference, in total time patient stay in the health care system compared with the current performance which is 145.9 min. Finally implementing Lean Sigma methodology in health care system can result the best reduction of waiting time in the health care. 2014 Thesis http://eprints.utm.my/id/eprint/41787/ http://dms.library.utm.my:8080/vital/access/manager/Repository/vital:73524?queryType=vitalDismax&query=Application+of+lean+and+six+sigma+with+simulation&public=true masters Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
