Summary:The purpose of research is to determine the influence of leadership style on work motivation of secondary school teachers in the urban zones of Segamat, Johor. This study specifically to determine whether there is a significant relationship between the leadership style of the principal with the level of work motivation among the teachers. This research used a survey method and simple random sampling. The measuring tool "Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire" (LBDQ) is used to measure the dimensions of leadership style based on structured and consideration dimension. The measuring tool "Questionnaire Measure of Individual Difference in Achieving Tendency" (QMAT) was used to measure the level of job motivation among the teachers. Data obtained from the questionnaire method by using the five point Likert scale. The sample consists of 140 teachers from six secondary schools in the zone Segamat town common. Data processing involves the measurement of the frequency of descriptive statistics, the mean, standard deviation and percentage. Data were also analyzed using inferential statistical of the t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficient. The study found that leadership style is high on the teachers' perception of the structural dimension and in medium level for the consideration dimension. While the level of motivation among teachers work shows the high level of positive motivation. Based on a study conducted found no significant difference between leadership style and gender, race and marital status of teachers, but there are significant differences between the leadership style of teacher tenure. The results also showed no significant difference between work motivation among teachers with gender, length of service and marital status, however there are significant differences between work motivation among teachers and communities. Correlation analysis showed a weak significant relationship between the leadership style of work motivation among teachers. Some suggestions for future research are also presented for future research
