Description
Summary:Truancy is one of the more significant discipline problems. The study was conducted at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Kesang Tua located in Jasin, Malacca. This study aims to identify the most dominant factor among the five factors that contributed to the students involved in the truancy problem. These factors consist of student attitudes, school climate factors, teachers, peer group and family factors. A total of 30 students from Years four, five and six of the schools involved in this study. This study uses quantitative design of causal comparative (ex post facto). The questionnaire used was a questionnaire which was built by John Azizi (2007) that had the reliability with Cronbach alpha value of 0.8766. Data were analyzed by using the tatistical Packages for the Social Sciences' (SPSS) version 16 and described in terms of percentages, frequencies and mean and standard deviation. Additionally inferential analysis using the t test and ANOVA used to identify differences between the factors of gender and job absenteeism with parents. The finding shows that the school environment is a factor with the highest mean value (26.63), followed by the teacher (20.80), attitude (17.47), peer group (15.30) and family factors (13.03). In addition there are significant differences between the school environment and gender factors.
