Summary:This study aims to review the knowledge, opinions and practices of primary school teachers in Pontian in implementing school-based assessment system. The system is implemented to produce quality students and replace the present system which is examination-based system.(The sample selected is a total of 120 respondents from the teachers who teach the classes KSSR of grade one to three. The selected sample consists of 120 respondents who are the teachers of KSSR’s classes from grade one to three. Respondents were selected because they can give opinion on the eight objectives of the study. The research design was quantitative using questionnaires as the research instrument. Data analysis also is using the software “Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) 18.0” for the mean and percentage data. A pilot study was conducted on 30 teachers and the reliability of the instrument was high at 0.920. Respondent knowledge of the schools studied is at a high level (mean = 4.181 and standard deviation = 0.675). The level of teachers’ opinions was moderate with a mean of 3.301 and standard deviation is 0.938. Standard of practice in the study was 4.006 and the standard deviation is 0.636. This clearly shows that the level of teachers' implementation of PBS is at a high level. The level of practice in this research is 4.006 with a standard deviation of 0.636 at a high level. There are significant differences between male and female respondents on the level of teachers' knowledge in the implementation of PBS, while there was no significant relationship between the knowledge and years of service. In addition there was a significant relationship between opinion and gender and length of service, but there was a significant relationship between the opinions of the races. Finally, the study found that there was no significant relationship between the practice of gender, race and length of service. Overall, these findings show that respondents have the knowledge, practice and opinions in height and have willingness in implementing school-based assessment of student performance
