Sanitary engineering Energy plays as the main role in some feature of our lives. Nowadays, we are totally dependent on an uninterrupted energy supply for daily routine thus could lead to extinction of non-renewable energy source and environmental problem with releasing of greenhouse gases to an atmosphere. Waste-to-energy (WTE) is define as a process or technique of generating energy to electricity or heat from the incineration process of waste. A lot of new technologies are able to generate energy from waste material without gas or solid combustion directly, so, it's safe to an environment. The purpose of this project is to generate energy through incineration of waste material from households and industries. To support the project, the data collection through experiment, literature review study, modelling and simulation were used to drive the project successfully. The experiment to produce biogas has been carried out in chemical lab in Penang. The setup of the experiment will represent a biogas generator to confirm the existence of biogas through anaerobic digestion process. The volume of biogas produced will be the input to the system which is modelled through MATLAB and W2E software. Electricity generated base on biogas volume is very small, 1m³ of biogas equals to 44.1W, so as an input to the system, the values of the biogas were varies to suit the other parameters values in the system. Output of the system were tabulated in table and plotted into graph to show electricity generated base on biogas input value. The performance between two different simulations software, MATLAB and W2E has proven the accomplishment of experiment result 2014 Thesis http://eprints.utm.my/id/eprint/48424/ masters Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Faculty of Electrical Engineering Faculty of Electrical Engineering
