Elements of sustainable transport become one of the significant indicators for achieving an environmentally friendly, sustainable and efficient campus. Some universities now have begun to take some initiative in implementing sustainable transport in their campus including Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Thus, this study was conducted to identify the student’s perception on sustainable transport in UTM. In addition, this study was conducted to identify and suggest the initiatives that should be carried out to improve the sustainability of the transportation in UTM. The approach used is through questionnaire distributed to all the students of UTM. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive and frequency analysis. The study found that many students feel the UTM campus have been practiced sustainable transport as an alternative to the sustainable campus, but they rarely use the sustainable transport as their support to the university’s alternative towards sustainable campus. This can be seen by the percentage of students who are really use sustainable transports is less than those who have never and only sometimes use the modes of sustainable transport within the campus. Perceptions of students have been divided into three types of sustainable transport modes namely walking, cycling and bus transportation. Students still feel that UTM does not provide complete facilities for pedestrian, bicycle transport and bus transport. UTM should give more concerned about this in order to attract students to use sustainable transport, to achieve the goal of establishing a sustainable campus. To improve the sustainability of transport in UTM, several suggestions from the respondents were presented in this study. 2014-08 Thesis http://eprints.utm.my/id/eprint/50822/ http://eprints.utm.my/id/eprint/50822/25/NurNadiahMohdMFGHT2014.pdf application/pdf en public http://dms.library.utm.my:8080/vital/access/manager/Repository/vital:89340 masters Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Faculty of Geoinformatiom and Real Estate Faculty of Geoinformatiom Science and Real Estate |
