Roads and pavements TA Engineering (General). Civil engineering (General) Drivers are in a dilemma to make quick and right decision when they are facing the amber time at a signalised intersection. This study observed the traffic when a driver reached a traffic light junction during the amber time, and to determine the relationship between the violation of traffic light after the end of amber period. A model is developed to determine the relationship of traffic when they are facing amber time at signalised intersection. For that purpose, this study focused on the low-speed roads and observation sites selected are the housing estates around Johor Bahru. Correlation and multi linear regression are used to predict the influence of certain strategies on the proportion of drivers stopping or proceed when they are facing the amber interval at a signalised junction. Finally three models were obtained, where two models can be categorised as reliable model (drivers stopping and drivers violation of traffic light after end of amber time) because of the error between the actual and the model output is within an agreement of 32%. However, the model developed to estimate the vehicles that drive on at the onset of amber can be considered as weak as the difference between the actual data and model output is about 74%. This is due to the non uniformity of the independent variables. 2006-04 Thesis http://eprints.utm.my/id/eprint/5285/ http://eprints.utm.my/id/eprint/5285/1/AlweeHjOthmanMFKA2006.pdf application/pdf en public masters Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Faculty of Civil Engineering Faculty of Civil Engineering
