Summary:Curriculum development can be measured through student achievement in teaching and learning process. Curriculum construction is performed to improve the implementation of curriculum continuously. Process of teaching and learning is not effective yet, so a learning model required for improving teacher quality and understanding based on school-based curriculum. The purpose of this study is to determine the orientation of curriculum, teaching conception, and effective teaching of physic teachers based on their experience and qualification. This study design uses mixed of quantitative and qualitative approached. Quantitative data is collected by using questionnaire with Cronbach Alpha 0.83 and distributed to 101 respondents. Mean while, qualitative data was obtained through interview from seven respondents based on purposive sampling SPSS 17 was used for mean and one way ANOVA analysis of questionnaire data.The interview data was transcripted and analyzed manually. The quantitative findings that shows the three constructs are in the high category. The findings olso explains the teachers comprehension is high in curriculum orientation (4.23), teaching conception (4.28), and effective teaching of physic teachers (4.32).The result of one way ANOVA was found significant difference between curriculum orientation, teaching conception, and effective teaching of physic teachers based on teachers? experience and qualification. Qualitative data also shows that teaching experience determine the difference perception toward curriculum orientation, teaching conception, and effective teaching of physic teachers. Nevertheless, the qualification of teachers was not significant to curriculum orientation and teaching conception. It is also supported by qualitative finding toward the elements of curriculum orientation, teaching conception, and effective teaching physic namely; using technology, teaching media, duration of teaching, and attitude that has positive impact on teaching and learning. Finally, this study has recommended one model of effective teaching for physic teachers at senior high school based on school-based curriculum which can influence curriculum development in Indonesia.
